Review :: Dexter

Rating :: a steak...rare (and I mean bloody)

Showtime has taken over as the premier storyteller on cable TV. With shows such as "Californication", "Weeds", "Brotherhood" and "The Tudors" HBO's title as the place channel to watch is history.

A macabre and poignant series of a serial killer who is attempting to harness the beast inside of him. Dexter works for the Miami Police Department as a forensic specialist using his "killer" instincts to unlock the mysteries of murders everywhere. The audience is in a tug-o-war loving Dexter as he brings justice to those who take life and wondering if that love should be reconsidered as he slices and dices people who justice cannot reign in.

"Dexter" certainly is not a show for everyone. Too bloody and dark for most but too well-crafted to ignore.

Please give Dexter a chance! I'm not so sure you are being fair about the series named "Dexter". Dexter is a fascinating series which i would have to agree with you in your description of "Beautiful and Grotesque". The story is a little dark but definitely interesting and involving. Dexter is not your common serial killer going around slicing and dicing everything in site. Dexter has a code, a serial killer code but a code after all, and he doesn't kill inocent and defenseless people. Dexter finds criminals who have escaped the normal justice system. He goes after the most wicked and sadistic killers out there who managed to slithered away from justice. The series is captivating and intriguing in every episode with new twist and turns all intertwined with Dexter.

@edii: Sorry if I came off as opposing the show. I actually was endorsing it as dark but great storytelling.
